1:1 Special Education Paraeducator

New Hartford Public Schools is seeking an outstanding candidate for the position of Special Education Paraeducator for the 2026-2027 school year 1.0 FTE.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • classroom support: 1:1 or small group
  • 1:1 support for medically complex student
  • assist in individual pupil instruction
  • assist teacher in data collection
  • may escort child to and from various rooms
  • toileting will be required 
  • regular attendance is required for this position 
  • will involve work with special education student(s) under direction of a certified teacher

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Two years of college credit or hold an associate’s (or higher) degree; or successful completion of a paraprofessional assessment 

 LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, comprehend and follow simple directions, short correspondence, and memos.  Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Effectively communicate with special education teachers and related service providers.

REASONING ABILITY
Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to problem solve scenarios involving a few concrete variables.
