Hearing Screening

		Hearing screening as mandated under Section 10-214 of the CGS requires that each local or regional board of education shall provide annually audiometric screening for hearing to each pupil in kindergarten and grades one and three to five, inclusive. Exemption or Excuse from Screening  • Parents may exempt their children from screenings for religious reasons and must provide the school with a written request for exemption from screenings.  • Students who have been screened by their primary care provider and/or are receiving specialist care and show documentation that it has been done, may be excused from school screening.

		Special educational provisions shall be made for students with handicapping conditions.
